Shearers Quarters “Camping”

  • Shearing team at Bungaree, 1880
Running 100,000 sheep in its heyday, shearing at Bungaree was an annual event that could take up to a month. During shearing, the shearers stayed on the property in the Shearers’ Quarters, located opposite the Woolshed. Today, with modern machinery and fewer sheep, shearing takes less than a week and most of the shearers live locally.

The Shearers Quarters has been converted into a conference centre venue but can also be hired by larger groups, such as school groups, who want to “rough it” without the inconvenience of camping.  There are two large rooms (with both reverse cycle air conditioning and wood fires) where guests can roll out their swags / bedding and mattresses, bathrooms, BBQ facilities and a bonfire area. This is available for groups of up to 25 people at $550 per night.

The Shearers Quarters also has a large kitchen and dining room that can be hired by large groups and for functions for an additional venue hire fee.
