Local Attractions

While guests are welcome to spend their time relaxing at Bungaree Station, there are many local attractions of the Clare Valley to be explored, from the many wineries and breweries, through to the museums and art galleries.

As one of the oldest wine regions in Australia, the Clare Valley has over 40 wineries as well as 30 cellar doors and breweries for visitors to explore. As well as producing world class Riesling, the Clare Valley punches well above its weight with accolades for Shiraz, Cabernet and other varieties.

Key historic attractions to visit include Martindale Hall at Mintaro and the many heritage and mining sites at Burra, while children may enjoy playing mini golf at Auburn.

For those feeling energetic, the Riesling Trail is a well renowned cycling/walking trail, while Spring Gully Conservation Park and the Heysen and Mawson trails are great alternatives for hikers. The Clare Valley Wine and Wilderness Trail also traverses private and public land, conveniently passing by wineries for tastings and long lunches if refreshments are required!

Guests with more time to explore could also venture into the Southern Flinders Ranges, including Alligator Gorge at Mt Remarkable National Park, or perhaps do a scenic drive with outback views, following the Dare’s Hill Circuit from Hallett to Terowie. The blushing "pink lake", Lake Bumbunga, is also just a short 25 minute drive from Bungaree.

The Clare Valley is a vibrant region, with a range of events throughout the year, from local markets, concerts and art exhibitions through to the Clare Gourmet Weekend and Clare Easter Races. For further information on local attractions and events, visit the Clare Valley website.

Dining Out

Restaurants, cafes and pubs throughout the region have a focus on local and seasonal produce and are perfect settings for long lunches, light platters or degustation dinners.

Visitors are spoilt for choice for lazy lunches in picturesque wineries, with Paulett’s Café Bush DeVine, Pikes SLATE restaurant, Skillogallee, Reillys, O’Leary Walker and Mr Mick all offering seasonal lunch menus.

Choosing a dinner venue can also present a dilemma, with Ragu & Co, Antidote Kitchen, Indii and Seed Winehouse + Kitchen, providing tempting options in Clare.

Local pubs, including Sevenhill Hotel, the Watervale Hotel  and the newly renovated Rising Sun Hotel, all add to this conundrum by also offering creative menus and exceptional wine lists.

"Heritage Clare" Package

If you want to have an exceptional Clare Valley experience without having to organise the itinerary yourselves, we have collaborated with Kilikanoon Wines, Sevenhill Cellars and Sevenhill Hotel on a two night Heritage Clare package that follows in the footsteps of early settlers and winemakers.
